The Robert Moss Theater is named after Robert Moss, the founder of Playwrights Horizons. He worked to establish theaters all around New York state and to grow the New York City's 42nd Street into the Theater district we know it as today! Today the Robert Moss Theater is home to Playwrights Downtown at the Undergraduate Drama Program at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts! Since 1983 this program has given NYU upperclassmen the oppurtinity to produce plays and productions-- both original and long-time favorites. The hard work culminated in nearly 50 productions annually at The Robert Moss Theater.
When not in use by NYU, the Robert Moss Theater and Playwrights Downtown is open to the public for leasing as rehersal and performance space. Learn more here.
